Piano Tuning

$200
Piano tuning has to do with intervals sounding correct and each note sounding pure and clear. The frequency of tuning varies depending  on the condition and use of the instrument.  Generally once or twice per year is recommended.

Voicing

$150 per hour

Voicing has to do with the brightness or mellowness of the tone and the uniformity of volume throughout the piano.  A piano may sound “brassy” or too loud, or too “mellow” and weak. This oftentimes has to do with the hardness of the hammers.

Regulation

$150 per hour
Regulation has to do with how the piano responds to touch.  Action is “too light” or “too heavy”.   Hammers “block” or won’t play, “double strike”, and many other things that make a piano not fun to play.

Repairs

$150 per hour

Minor repairs can sometimes be done with the tuning at no extra charge or a nominal fee.  If more extensive repairs are required, I will give you an estimate and get approval before doing the work.

Insurance Appraisals and Estimates

$160

I am experienced (55 years) in providing insurance appraisals.  I have also saved customers a lot of money and disappointment with expert advice when trying to find that “deal” on a used piano.

Deep Cleaning

$185 for Vertical Pianos | $285 for Grands
This includes removing the keys and action and cleaning the soundboard under the strings on grand pianos. Usually, deep cleaning every 15-20 years is sufficient.  Additional charges will apply if the piano has been infested with rodents.
